Ironman 70.3

I have finally finished my mini documentary on my training and entry into an Ironman 70.3 race.

2 years in the making, this is the most time consuming, yet rewarding thing I have probably done in life so far. Training was long, hard, and exhausting… but I am glad to have finished the race […]

Ironman

What a day. Here I sit feeling the after effects of a long race, sore muscles and really sorehip and knee joints. The whole race has become a blur of a memory so I want to write down as much as I can before the memory fades away. You can read more on my fitness […]

Nothing left to do but race

Ironman 70.3 is only a few days away and there is no more training left to do. My body can’t possibly get any more prepared for this years “A” race than it is right now. All I have left to do is figure out the logistics of race day, mentally prep, and get lots of […]

Duathlon 2013

Another race is in the bag…and I feel pretty bagged!

I beat my time from last year by 4 minutes with a finish of 2:30:59 based on my Garmin timing. Some how my timing chip was not entered into the system, I mean I didn’t even get a DNF on the online rankings page. I […]

Great day for a Race

Wow you couldn’t ask for better weather to run a half marathon today. We just finished 3-4 days of steady rain, and the forecast says that it is going to pour rain again for 3-4 days this week. So the race managed to sit right in the middle. I was a little worried at fist […]

First Triathlon…sort of

I raced in my first triathlon today, and it was fun yet disappointing…for several reasons.

Firstly it was NOT a triathlon. Crappy Canadian weather turned it into splash N dash race. Meaning there was no bike portion due to the 30cm of snow that fell overnight. Yuck!

The run was still planned to be out […]

Proof in numbers

After reviewing my times, it would appear that yes I did increase my pace when my stroke improved. You can see that my best pace was actually made near the end of my workout when I was lower on energy. I’m pretty happy to see these results.

[…]

Swim Drills pay off

I had a great swim this morning. After doing more drills for about 1200 meters, I could feel the results starting to gel.

During the last 300 meters or so of my workout it all suddenly fell into place. I could really feel the extra pull being generated by correct arm movements through the water. […]

First Halk Marathon Completed…ouch!

Wow this one hurt, my legs ache as I write this, I am not sure how I will cope with work over the next few days as my body tries to recover.

Finish time 1:57:00, thus I beat my 2 hour goal, but missed my 1:45 target time.

For the first 4km I was keeping […]

5.8km run / 37.7km bike / 9.7km run

Well the race is done, and I am going to feel this one tomorrow. This was probably the coldest I have ever felt in my life. Pouring rain on us and a stiff wind from the north made the first half of the race nearly unbearable. At least 5 people did not finish the bike […]
